Have you ever wondered what became of his wand? The Dark Lord, upon his discovery of the Elder Wand, completely forgot about his own, original wand—his mind clouded by the pride and mania the legendary Deathstick created. But, it did not mean he threw it away completely.
Yew, 13” inches and a phoenix feather core. This wand was hidden, and just as well as any of Lord Voldemort’s horcruxes. The Dark Lord, while on his quest for the Elder Wand, hid his original Yew wand in a place he did not expect it to ever be discovered.
After the Dark Lord’s fall, rumor of his wand found its way into Shacklebolt’s office. Borgin and Burkes was offering to auction it off, claiming the Dark Lord left it with them. Shacklebolt knew this to be a lie, and immediately confiscated it. The Ministry visited the Malfoy family, expecting them to have sold it off, though, they were not. The mystery of the Dark Lord’s wand baffled the Ministry for years, and to this day. There is talk among those skilled in wand-lore who say that a wand may do as it wants—it may do things on its own, even kill, protect, or reveal itself.
The Dark Lord’s wand, unlike most Death Eaters, does not remain with it’s master, in his grave. It stands in the Auror headquarters at the Ministry, in a case of unbreakable glass, crafted by the most skilled of Goblins, not to mention the numerous wards that were sewn to the glass.
I’m going to pick up Voldemort or Dumbledore’s wand next time I’m in Hogsmeade.
